Baskets in my blood
Move away from plastic bags and bins and go green with baskets!
- I discovered in the 1930 census that my maternal grandmother worked as a 'mender' in a basket factory in Millville, Cumberland County, NJ when she was 15 years old.
- I the 1850 census, my paternal 3rd great grandfather was listed as a basket maker in Franklin, Gloucester County, NJ and his son, my 2nd great-grandfather became a basket maker as well. Seems my interest in in the genes!
- I can do basic baskets with children and this is a good activity for Scouts or home school groups
Historic Foodways-18th century hearth cooking
- I can run a hearth cooking workshop if you have a hearth at your site. We work together to create a meal usually but shorter workshops are possible.
- I have demonstrated at the George Morgan Stone House, The Whitall House, Potter's Tavern, the Nicholas Gibbon House and the Wood Mansion. South Jersey's colonial houses and taverns are overlooked and should be alive and full of energy again.
